These players truly have a ball on the field
Paul Kasting of Mundelein on the Wiech's Inn team connects for a hit during a Mundelein Park and Recreation District 12 inch adult softball league game at the Keith Mione Community Park and Sports Complex. The chair in the background placed next to the field is in memory of Paul's father John Kasting who passed away at the age of 84 in December of 2011. John would watch hundreds of games in that chair played by Paul and Paul's brothers Peter and Matt for over 10 years playing together on their softball teams. John played 16 inch softball when he was younger living in Chicago. His boys talking about him said, "That was his joy." and added "He's still here."

As the days begin to warm back up, a glow can be seen in the night sky in Mundelein and many surrounding communities.
It’s not the lights from strip mall parking lots or those of large businesses, but the warm glow of lights from the baseball and softball fields throughout the suburbs.
The Mundelein Park District’s men’s and co-ed 12-inch softball leagues have taken the field, and the umpires are back to calling balls and strikes for the summer.
