NORRIDGE — Classic blue-jean fans seeking to restock their fall wardrobes have a new denim destination at their disposal.

Specialty retailer Buckle made its debut at Harlem Irving Plaza July 18 to offer fashion-conscious consumers a wide selection of fits, styles, and finishes from leading denim brands.

Buckle hired a staff of two dozen, including a manager-in-training and four assistant managers, said store manager Alex Sharain.

Originally of Chicago, Sharain had previously relocated to Colorado Springs, Colo., to manage a Buckle store there.

He has enjoyed working for the company over the past several years because of its positive approach to business.

“It’s a team-friendly atmosphere,” he said. “I like to watch other people succeed.”

Sharain jumped on the chance to move closer to his family upon learning a new location was opening in Norridge. He and his wife now reside in Oak Park.

His goal, he said, and that of Buckle, is to “make the shopping experience for guests unbelievable.”

The store offers personal jean fittings through its “Get Fitted” program and pants from a dozen designers, including Buckle’s exclusive brand, BKE.

Sharain said a pair of jeans ranges from $44 up to $200.

Headquartered in Kearney, Neb., Buckle currently operates more than 400 stores in 43 states.
