Park Ridge police said a Norridge woman struck a store employee in the head during the theft of a bottle of wine.

Marinah Panzarella, 19, of the 8200 block of West Winona, Norridge, was accused of stealing a bottle of wine shortly before 3 a.m., May 30 from Walgreens, 800 W. Devon Ave., said Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen. The alleged theft occurred while a man accompanied by Panzarella, identified as Michael Solovastru, 21, of the 6800 block of Beckwith, Morton Grove, was being assisted by employees after he reportedly fell inside the store.

Jogmen said that after Panzarella left the store with the wine she returned and punched a store manager in the head when employees attempted to keep Solovastru from exiting the building.

Jogmen said Solovastru, who appeared to be intoxicated, was also accused of shoving another employee.

The suspects then left, but were detained by Park Ridge Police in the parking lot, the deputy chief said.

Panzarella was subsequently charged with battery and retail theft, and Solovastru was charged with battery. Both have a June 13 court date.

Jogmen said the bottle of wine allegedly stolen was not recovered.
