ComEd to restore power to all customers Friday

Updated: October 24, 2012 10:09PM

About 300 Commonwealth Edison customers scattered around the Chicago area remain without power on Friday afternoon, but should have their electricity restored by the end of the day.

The utility has restored power to about 170,000 people affected by the strong storms Wednesday night and Thursday morning, ComEd’s Martha Swaney said.

On Thursday the utility said most customers would get their power back Friday, but some might not have the lights back on until Saturday.

But Logan now says that estimate has been revised.

“All customers will be restored today,” she said, “ahead of schedule.”

She had no breakdown of where the remaining 300 customers live because the number is so small.

The storm brought heavy rain, strong winds and hail, knocking down tree limbs and power lines in many parts of the area, according to the National Weather Service.
