NORRIDGE — Firemen are not to be feared.
That was the message the Norwood Park Fire Department wanted to get across to Dobbs Preschool students in Norridge.
In one class, teacher Gaby Padilla dressed up in gear so children would know not to be frightened and run away if a firefighter came into their homes.
Another group of students went outside, where a firefighter put on his gear and allowed the students to touch the equipment, to lessen any fear they might have had.
“It was awesome,” said Maria Tsagouris, preschool director. “The firemen did such a great job.”
