Norridge, Harwood Heights police blotter for Nov. 13

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Norridge and Harwood Heights police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of a law can make that determination.

Norridge

ASSAULT

Richard Burns, 53, 4803 N. Kenmore Ave. in Chicago, was charged Nov. 1 with felony criminal damage to property and assault after he allegedly damaged a computer and verbally abused an employee at Chase Bank, 4235 N. Harlem Ave. Burns received a $10,000 bond and a Nov. 20 court date in Rolling Meadows.

THEFT

Israel Ramirez-Verdin, 29, 1306 N. 18th Ave. in Melrose Park, was charged Nov. 2 with theft after he allegedly attempted to leave Kohl’s, 4200 N. Harlem Ave., without paying for $49 in merchandise. Ramirez-Verdin received a $1,000 bond and a Dec. 5 court date in Rolling Meadows.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Robert Popjoy, 18, 6047 N. Oconto in Chicago, was charged Oct. 29 with criminal damage to property after he allegedly broke a window of a vehicle parked on the 7000 block of Montrose Avenue. Popjoy received a recognizance bond and a Dec. 13 court date in Rolling Meadows.

Harwood Heights

BATTERY

Esmir Sabic, 35, of 4345 N. Newcastle Ave. in Harwood Heights, was charged Oct. 22 with battery following a reported altercation on the 4300 block of Newcastle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Joseph Scavelli, 47, 8101 W. Balmoral Ave. in Chicago, was charged Oct. 21 with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass after he allegedly removed the possessions of his tenants and changed the locks on the door without following proper eviction procedures. Scavelli, who reportedly told police he believed the tenants had abandoned the property, received a recognizance bond and a Nov. 15 court date in Rolling Meadows.
