A mix of rain, sleet and snow will turn into all snow Tuesday evening in the Chicago area, dodging the morning and evening commutes.
Two to four inches of snow are expected during the afternoon and evening, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Friedlein.
Snow will enter the Chicago area from the south with a mix of rain, sleet and slowly spread north, affecting the entire region by noon, Friedlein said. The North Side can possibly expect precipitation about 2 p.m. and the South Side about 10 a.m.
Temperatures will climb into the mid 30s with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour, the weather service said.
Rain, sleet and snow will change entirely into snow by mid-to-late afternoon with the heaviest snowfall occurring after 9 p.m., Friedman said.
Temperatures will fall to 30 degrees and wind gusts will also decrease to 30 miles per hour, the weather service said.
An addition one to two inches of accumulation are expected during snow showers on Wednesday and Thursday.
