The village of Harwood Heights is serving as a drop-off point for the Salvation Army Norridge Citadel’s Thanksgiving food drive.
The village will accept nonperishable food donations through Saturday, Nov. 16, at Village Hall, 7300 W. Wilson Ave.
Among the items requested are canned fruits, vegetables, soups, tuna, chicken, ham and chili.
The agency also is looking for prepared spaghetti sauce as well as pasta, rice, ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese.
Thanksgiving items include canned sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce, instant mashed potatoes and biscuit and muffin mixes as well as jellies and jams.
And the organization also is in need of such staples as peanut butter, cooking oil, hot and cold cereals, flour, sugar, brown sugar and fruit juices as well as salt and pepper along with such condiments as ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
