Women’s Basketball: Win in OT lifts Oakton to 16-8 overall

The Oakton College women’s basketball team improved to 16-8 overall and 5-5 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference play with a 61-51 win over Prairie State in overtime on Saturday.

Ebone Green (North Lawndale) led the Raiders’ charge with 22 points, followed by Amber Patterson-Moss (14) and Bridgett Akyroid (11).

Patterson-Moss, who also tallied 13 points in Oakton’s 59-54 home loss to Elgin Community College on Feb. 2, is one of the leading scorers in NJCAA Division II, averaging 18.3 points per game. 

Men’s basketball

Despite 25 points and nine rebounds from Giovanni Bray, Oakton was nipped by Prairie State 72-71 on Saturday.

The Raiders fell to 6-19 overall (3-7 ISCC) with the loss.

Two days prior, Bray buried a three-pointer as time expired, lifting Oakton to a 74-71 home victory over Elgin. Bray finished the contest with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

Bray, Oakton’s leading scorer, averages 16.1 points per game.
