Girls Basketball: Trinity overcomes slow start, topples Maine South
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Two days after learning its seed and assignment at the Lyons Sectional, Trinity went out and beat one of the top teams in the Chicago area Saturday at the Sweet 16 tournament at Lake Zurich. The No. 3-ranked Blazers, who landed the second seed behind No. 1-ranked Young, overcame a sluggish start to earn a 44-30 victory over No. 8 Maine South, the top seed at the New Trier Sectional.

Wrestling: Notre Dame rolls to title in own regional
WRESTLING: Notre Dame dominated its own regional Saturday, in the squad’s first foray into the Class 2A ranks. Notre Dame was forced to drop down a notch after the IHSA revised its enrollment multiplier and made other modifications last June. Notre Dame took full advantage, advancing all 14 of its wrestlers, including nine champions and five other top-three finishers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Maine South played the toughest two-game schedule Saturday at the Sweet 16 tournament, and the Hawks paid for it with two losses to top-five teams. But the No. 8-ranked Hawks hung tough in both, losing to No. 3 Trinity 44-30 in the afternoon and No. 4 Marist 54-41 in the evening at Lake Zurich.
